How to use the verb “owns” (vs. “bought”)?

There is a new way to enter ownership in ORCA. Until now, ORCA required you to enter all the individual transactions for a given relationship (e.g. Person A bought 5% of Company B last month and bought an additional 10% this month).

Now, you have an additional option: you can enter positions using the verb “owns” (e.g. Person A owns 15% of Company B as of this month). If you use “owns” there is no need to add all the individual buy and sell transactions anymore (unless you want to). You can summarize lots of individual buy/sell transactions in one “owns” sentence.

💡Here's how it works:

  1. Open the sentence builder,
  1. Select the verb "owns", and
  1. Complete the sentence as usual by clicking "Add."

The best thing is that you can combine bought, sold, and owns for the same relationship (see gif). Whenever you combine “owns” with “bought” and “sold”, the owns sentence will supersede any previous ownership calculations:

👉 Example below: On 31st July, we owned 22% of the asset for EUR 4,000. This supersedes the previous balance of 57% / EUR 6,450.
